Re: [LIS-Forum] Article request - Good suggestion
The need for full details about an individual has also been mentioned several times. These are basic requirements in a professional mailing list. I am not a member of Delnet, but I can add that for those who need scientific articles, the NISCAIR's Union Catalog is also another tool to search, before making requests here. Those who need a collection that is covered in Delnet, should definitely become members and check there too. How can we insist on following all these? Strictness is one option, but that is a lot of work for the moderator - and even if we add some volunteers, it IS a lot of work. It can lead to unpleasantness too sometimes (sad, but true) Another way is to keep pointing out the options (like I did), for every request. Any more suggestions are welcome. The forum should evolve and grow. Very good suggestion. Nowadays users are not bothered to give their name and organisation when seeking help. I think it is in bad taste and we should not reply to such queries. Sometimes users ask very fundamental questions that every library professional is expected to know. I think there is something wrong with our current LIS education.
