Regards Kumbar IIT Gandhinagar --------------- Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar Vacancy for Library Trainees The Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) is one of the premier Institutes in the country setup by Govt. of India in 2008. The Library @ IITGN aims to be one of the leading state-of- the-art libraries, and is fast developing with its rich collection (print & digital), IT infrastructure and innovative information services. To assist in providing excellent services to the institute’s user community, the library is looking for young, dynamic, tech- savvy, highly motivated and committed fresh Post-Graduates in Library & Information Science from recognized Indian universities to serve as *Library Trainees *purely on a temporary basis for one year. Library at the Institute is fully computerized, subscribes to major e-resources and provides network based information services. It is kept open for longer hours on weekdays, weekends, holidays and vacations. The essential requirements and other details for this position are as given below: *Essential Qualifications & other requirements:* - Master’s in Library & Information Science with a first class - Sound working knowledge of basic IT tools - Familiarity with Web Based Information Resources - Good Knowledge of Library Management Software, E-Resources - Strong communication (written & oral) skills in English - Strong interpersonal & intrapersonal skills - Work as a team member & excel in assigned tasks - Aptitude for providing excellent service - Skills for developing websites will be an added advantage Nature of traineeship: Trainees will be provided with an opportunity to work in different sections of the library and learn modern library management techniques and web based services. The Library will provide a highly professional working & learning environment. The selected candidates will have ample opportunities to work and learn on emerging IT tools and technologies. Duration: The duration of traineeship will be for one year (usually July-June). Remuneration: Selected candidates will be paid a consolidated stipend of Rs. 14,000/- per month with leave and medical facilities as per Institute rules. The selected candidates will have to work from Monday-Saturday (*six days a week*) and be ready to work in different shifts and weekends on rotation basis. No TA/DA will be provided to the candidates for attending written test & interview Selection of candidates will be based on the performance in the written test and personal interview. *Number of Vacancies*: Four *Age Limit*: 26 years as on the date of test & interview Interested candidates *who meet the above mentioned basic requirements* may send their application with resume along with a passport size photograph affixed at librarytrainees@iitgn.ac.in *by 18th June, 2012* and directly come for the written test & interview.
