Re. Sad Demise of Prof K S Deshapande - A kegendary personality It is extremely sad and shocking news! Prof. K. S. Deshpande was one the most sought after teachers in KUD during my student days. I distinctly remember, we used to skip other teachers' lectures to attend his talks. He was the architect of KUD Library and had rendered his knowledge to build and develop many academic libraries and LIS departments in the country. Prof. KSD was a very simple, down to earth, humble with an everlasting iconic smile on his face which clearly exhibited his great personality. He was one of those rare teachers whose English was impeccable and showed remarkable insight on many topics. The LIS profession in the country has lost one of the most admired Gurus! His life story is certainly inspirational and deserves to be a part of LIS curriculam. I pray almighty to give enough strength to his family members, relatives and friends to bear this irreplacable loss. May his soul rest in peace. Its with utter sadness I regret to inform all the LIS fraternity the Sad Demise of Prof K S Deshapande the legendary Librarian, teacher, philosopher a great thinker and a person who really spread the messages of Ranganathan practically through his many decades of services.

He breathed his last this afternoon around 1,30 pm(Aug 4th) at his residence

May the almighty rest his soul in peace and give his family members the strength to bear the loss.

Its a big loss to the LIS profession in Karnataka and India
