Dear LIS professionals, It is very pathetic to note that the library science degrees and diplomas offered through distance mode by the Universities in Tamilnadu (Alagappa University, Karaikudi, Annamalai University, Chidambaram, Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai, etc.,)are not finding recognition in Kerala State for appointments in the state services. It is to be noted that we all imbibed the popular theories put forth by DR.S.RANGANATHAN and he is still considered as the father of library science in our Country. The universities in kerala also followed the same theories of DR.SR.in their syllabus for imparting library science to their students. The Distance Education Council has also approved the degrees and diplomas offered by the universities in Tamilnadu. Kindly share with other LIS professionals and try to send the message to the Universities concerned in Tamilnadu and in Kerala. If there are any specific orders for recognition, please send to the LIS professionals. If not, do the needful for treating the degrees and diplomas as equivalent to the programmes offered by the Universities in Kerala.
