Dear All, The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) invites applications for the position of Data Officer (2 positions). Data Officer will play a key role in the Office of Data in collecting, curating and preserving and analyzing data related to all activities of IISc. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: * Coordinate with various offices, centers, units, departments, and SAP ERP of IISc to collect multiple datasets pertaining to HR, Academics, Projects, Finance, Funding, Ranking, IoE, and Institutional Research Data Management • Evaluate the datasets for consistency and completeness & Conduct Data Audit • Perform data management and benchmarking activity as per the needs of the IISc leadership • Perform data analysis using statistical tools, Perform publication data analysis for rankings • Develop a classification system for efficient organization and retrieval of data • Be responsible for data licensing and long-term preservation of data • Coordinate timely data submission for ranking agencies such as NIRF, THE, and QS • Coordinate and support Office of Data and IISc Rankings and Performance Committee EXPECTED SKILL-SET: 1. Data visualization tools – both commercial and open source – Tableau, Power BI, Google Data Studio, Google Charts, Candela and use of infographic tools like Piktochart, Canva 2. Research data management using open source tools like CKAN, Dataverse, Figshare 3. Statistical computing and Graphics support using R, Data Catalogue Vocabulary (DCAT) 4. Scripting languages - Python, Java, Ruby, PHP, JavaScript,RDBMS (MySQL/MariaDB, PostgreSQL) 5. Exposure to academic research publication tools – Scopus, Web of Science, SciVal and Incites. 6. Website development using content management systems like Drupal, WordPress, Joomla, etc. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATION: BE/B.Tech (preferably Computer Science or Information Science) or Master’s degree in Science/Statistics/Mathematics/Economics. MBAs and PGP Diploma holders should have BE/BTech/BSc as their undergraduate degree. DESIRBALE QUALIFICATIONS: 5 years of Experience in Data Management & Analytics. REMUNERATION: The salary will be fixed between Rs. 80,000 to Rs. 1,00,000/- per month depending on the qualifications, experience, and suitability of the candidate. The position is full-time, temporary and contractual. Since this is a contractual appointment, benefits available to permanent employees of the Institute will not be applicable.
