Documentation Research & Training Centre (DRTC) Indian Statistical Institute 8th Mile, Mysore Road, RVCE Post Bangalore, 560 059 COLLOQUIUM-1 (2017-2019) Title : Open Educational Resources : an overview Abstract The higher education system is changing rapidly across the globe, which gave birth to creativity, innovation, and adaptability in one direction, and engaged the people in competition for resources in another. Until recently, the educational support especially the resources was limited to the privileged groups of students and professors, and this lead to think about the freedom of users in today's networked society. Open Educational Resources (OER) is the way which enables digital educational resources to everyone free of any legal, financial or technical barriers and access to knowledge as a public good. Our presentation concerns about how OER cherish the culture of participation, collaboration and sharing with use of digital contents and ICT which put a notable contribution to the development of knowledge society. Our study also covers the implementation of OER and its various challenges with a special reference to libraries.
