Re: [LIS-Forum] Bookstores vs Public Libraries

Nice to read about " What we can learn from book stores", but, another
article looks a little further "Stores and Libraries: Both Serve
Customers!"
http://www.infotoday.com/mls/jan02/koontz.htm
In author's own words:
"I am walking through a shopping mall, thinking about libraries, thinking
about retail stores—thinking how we are alike, and what we can learn from
each other. There are some obvious similarities."
These papers put us to think beyond our traditional boundaries.

Hello All,
There is a nice article entitled "What libraries can learn from bookstores: Applying the bookstore model to public libraries" recently appeared (2 days ago) at the following URL http://www.ckls.org/~crippel/marketing/bookstore.html
The article talks about the difference and comparison between Public Library and Bookstore with some good pointers. The situations given in the article are not yet implemented/relevant for India but still people can know some ongoing trends or can modeled their library.
