Mrs Ashalatha of ISRO Superannuating: Good Wishes

Dear Professionals, Mrs. Ashalatha, Scientist 'F' and Head, Library and Information Centre , ISRO Head Quarters is superannuating today, 31st Oct 2014. She did MLIS from Bangalore University (Course conducted at DRTC along with my batch of 1976-77). Then she worked with Late Prof. M.A. Gopinath as Research Assistant in designing Depth Schedule for Zoology and Botany. She joined ISRO HQ as Scientific Assistant in 1978 and served for more than 37 years. She has been leading a fairly big and rich Special Library of ISRO HQ since 1998. She took lead for giving online access to good number of e-journals for ISRO Patrons. She has been responsible in developing an Institutional Repository using DSpace, giving access to >12,500 items like research articles, internal reports, lectures, newspaper clippings, etc and made it available for the benefit of all ISRO centres through SPACENET. She has provided customised team services covering both bibiographic and full texts covering topics like Moon Mission, GSLV, PSLV, Mars Mission and Space Debris. She took initiative to form ISRO Libraries Consortia, but some how it did not materialise. She has trained many young LIS professionals and developed her team to carry forward her good work, To her credit she has presented some papers in International Conferences and also few publications.
