Conference on Legal Aspects of Open Source Software at NLSIU
Dear Professional, The Law and Technology Committee of the National Law School of India University, Bangalore, is organising its annual conference Consilience (http://www.nls.ac.in/students/consilience/index.htm) in Bangalore on the 8th and 9th July, 2005. The aim of Consilience is to bring together scholars, industry stakeholders, legal experts, and policy-makers to address issues that have been earmarked for them after intensive research. This year's theme is Free/Open Source Software (FOSS), and we intend to have the following conference tracks - o FOSS - An Introduction o Role of FOSS in developing countries o FOSS Business Models o Legal Aspects of FOSS We envisage a robust dialogue and thorough analysis of these issues relating to free/open source software, including its uses in ICT for development. We expect the conference to result in a recommendation paper/declaration having the potential to effect formulation of a comprehensive policy by the Indian Government concerning FOSS.
