One Day Workshop on “Introduction to Scientific & Patent Information and Chemical Abstracts Search” Bangalore University Library and Department of Chemistry, Bangalore University, Bangalore, are jointly organizing one day workshop on “Introduction to Scientific and Patent Information” for the benefit of the Teachers & Research Scholars of Bangalore University and its affiliated colleges. All the Chemical & Pharmaceutical Industries using Chemical Abstracts for their information requirement may also depute their representatives. Scientific Research is growing at a rapid speed. For instance, there are 83 million chemical and biological substances in the world and 40,000 new substances are being added everyday as monitored by CAS Registry numbers. These are substances that are reported for the first time in literature or patents. To keep updated with this situation, for effective research or patent related decisions, increasingly teachers and students in academics, scientists in R&D labs use STN online service. Bangalore University Library has access to Chemical Abstracts through STN (Scientific & Technical Information Network) online information service through UGC-INFONET Programme at free of cost. All the teachers, students and other beneficiaries of Chemical Abstract Services are requested to make best use of this opportunity and learn how to use STN search in their research and patent related decision in Chemical biotech, Engineering related and with Case Studies.
