The President and the Trustees of the Satinder Kaur Ramdev Memorial Trust for Advancement of Librarianship (SATKAL) presented various SATKAL awards for the year 2013 on 22 February 2014 on the occasion of the 59thInternational Conference of the Indian Library Association (ILA) at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Roorkee (Uttarakhand). SATKAL was founded by an NRI, Prof. Jaginder Singh Ramdev, in the year 2000 in the sweet memory of his wife Mrs. Satinder Kaur Ramdev. This is perhaps the only trust in India that encourages and motivates library and information professionals by giving various awards annually. At the award ceremony, Citations of the award recipients were readout, and a Shawl, a Plaque, and a citation were presented to each of the recipients by the trustees. The names of the SATKAL award recipients for the year 2013 are given below. SATKAL National Librarian Award 2013: Mr. Yogendra Singh, Librarian, IIT, Roorkee. SATKAL Woman Librarian Award 2013: Dr. Jaspal Kaur, Librarian, Dev Samaj College for Women, Chandigarh. SATKAL Young Librarian Award 2013: Dr. Rishi Tiwari, Librarian Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIM-TECH), Greater Noida. SATKAL School Librarian Award 2013: Ms. Rashmi T. Kumbar, Librarian, Adani Vidya Mandir, Ahmedabad. A leaflet about the history, mandate and activities of SATKAL was also distributed at the ILA Conference. About 300 delegates attended the awards ceremony.
