Dear Professional Friends, LIS academy profusely thanks all the admirers and supporters of the initiatives of Academy. The Second LISA distinguished lecture was delivered by Prof.Anil D. Sahasrabudhe Chairman AICTE on "Role of Libraries in implementation of NEP-2020 Framework". The lecture was attended by more than 300 Library professionals across India on both WebEx and YouTube platforms. Prof. Sahasrabudhe’s talk addressed many critical issues of the LIS Profession currently, which is at crossroads due to several changing dynamics. NEP's expectations from the libraries in the coming years are well articulated in his talk and set a new direction and benchmark for the library community. His holistic views of reinventing and repositioning libraries in the learning ecosystem have set a road map to academic librarians at various levels. During the question hour in response to the suggestions I made on behalf of the Technical Institution Librarians, Prof.Sahasrabudhe has also assured the LIS professionals’ that he will immediately consider to issue necessary directives to all the institutions under AICTE across the country to treat the Librarians as one among Academic Staff and also assured to form a committee to recommend the staff pattern for Technical Institutions in the country. As proposed to the VTU, LIS Academy will submit a proposal through VTU, to the AICTE for necessary implementation.
