Arts College  Dindigul, Tamilnadu, India   TheWorkshop: The purpose ofthe Workshop is to familiarize the participants with the KOHA open source software forIntegrated Library System (ILS)developed in 1999 by Katipo Communications, New Zealand. Koha is considered as ahighly sophisticated web-based ILS, with a SQL database backend and accessible via Z39.50 or SRU.   The user interface is very configurable and adaptable and has been translated into manylanguages. KOHA has most of the featuresthat would be expected in an ILS, including:   Objectives: v  To create an awareness ofthe benefits of using Open Source Software, v  To introduce the Linux operatingsystem to the participants. v  To provide extensive exposure todevelop an expertise by thorough training, tutorial, demonstration and hands-onpractice to the participants so as to enable them to workindependently. v  To acquaint with the installation of KOHA on Ubuntu platform, customization, Data Migration and implementation to the participants. v  To equip the participants for managing KOHA at institutions with Largecollections. v  To exchange information, knowledge,and experience in using KOHA for Library management.   The participants: v  The Workshopwill be of immense benefit to Working LibraryProfessionals, LIS Students, and LIS Researchers. v  The number ofparticipants is restricted to 40 (Forty)and admission will be strictly on afirst-come-first-served basis.
