Documentation Research & Training Centre (DRTC) Indian Statistical Institute 8th Mile, Mysore Road, RVCE Post Bangalore, 560 059 STUDENT COLLOQUIUM - 3 (2018-2020) Title: MAKERSPACE Abstract The word makerspace is the combination of two words i.e. maker and space, which refers to creating space for creativity and innovation. Makerspace is a place in which people with common interest come together to work on projects and express their creative thoughts. In the era of ICT, traditional libraries are unable to attract patrons as information is available on internet via digital library services. When we talk about modern libraries, they are spreading their hands to inculcate more innovative services to attract patrons. The concept of makerspaces catch the eye of LIS professionals and there is a huge demand to implement this concept and build library makerspaces. The purpose of this colloquium is to spread more awareness about makerspaces and its uses in libraries. In this colloquium, we will present the benefits and motivation behind this concept along with some tools and technologies and strategies to build library makerspaces and some real world case studies.
