The first e-learning portal of the North East was launched by the Gauhati University in 13th November 2009 by the Vice-Chancellor of Gauhati University Prof OK Medhi at a function held at the BKB auditorium of the university. The portal has been developed by the faculty members of the Institute of Distance and Open Learning of the university.

The portal has the facilities like online enrollment of students, independent discussion forum for every course, online interaction facility with faculty members, online study material etc.
