*Alarming Situation to Librarian in the country * i want to extend the discussion which P. Mounissamy made in his email. The MHRD degraded the position of Dy.Librarian/Asst.Librarian in NIT. The NCTE also abolished the post of Librarian in Teaching cadre and suggested to appoint Librarian with B.Lib in Non academic staff. As a result the post of Librarian in Government Degree colleges in Education which is in UGC pay scale is abolished by the state govt.of Maharashtra. It will result in many aided college and in future the existing post in UGC pay scale will be abolished. The policy regarding the library personnel is changing very adversely and will hurt the library profession. In the era of globalization and IT ,where the world is giving priority to knowledge management to serve the knowledge society. Our country policy makers are doing wrong and will affect the future of the country. The Library & Information Professional Association should raise the issue to MHRD and the concerned authority. This is the time of struggle for LIS professionals.
