Dear LIS professionals,

Through this forum, LIS professionals are requested to communicate to Heads of Library Science Departments and Computer Science Deaprtments  to participate in the meeting for discussing the project issues during the meeting on 27th February 2008.

During 11th Five Year Plan, NIC has a scheme for automation and networking of libraries and knowledge integration across India.  The objective is to create national infrastructure of Centre of excellence of eGranthalaya at Banglore, National Digital Library, National Union Catalog and ICT support to libraries.

Keeping in view the future requirements and roadmap  a one-day closed group technical developers's meet  is being organized on 27th Feruary 2008 at 10:30 am - 4:30 PM. 
 
Head of the Departments(HODs) of Library Science and Computer Science of Indian Universities  are requested to kindly make it convenient to participate in this important meeting. NIC would discuss with HODs the  issues like MOU, research funding and to be part of deveopment/project  team during 11th Five year plan. 

 The agenda would be

•  Demonstartion and discussion on eGranthalaya 
• Understanding the internals and codes of eGranthalaya  technology
• Knowledge Transfer by Microsoft
• To develop the more modules required
• Customization of existing e-forms and database
• Developing/Integrating advanced search engines
• Integrating Open standards
• Integrating Web 3.0 tools
• MOU with Library Science Departments and Computer Science Departments of Indian Universities
