CHANDIGARH: In a good news for book lovers, especially from the field of science, a consortium of scientific libraries of the city is being formed by the Panjab University.

The initiative has been taken by PU vice-chancellor RC Sobti, who plans to operationalize a common website that could provide links of various scientific institutes. With this, students will attain a special privilege to access online libraries of various institutes.

Libraries of educational institutes like Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Central Scientific Instrument Organization (CSIO), National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, Institute of Microbial Technology, Indian Institute of Science Education and Research , Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, will participate in the novel initiative.

If everything goes according to plans, online research journals and books of various institutes can be accessed with the click of a mouse.
