Abstract: The current wave of Generative AI is attracting great interest globally. These Systems have captured our imaginations but are not without issues and risk to people and to systems. The emergence of concerns about the potential impact of these technologies to people and cultures has led to increasing demand for the development and application of Responsible AI policies and regulations. Responsible AI principles are grounded in human-centred ideals of trust, fairness, and accountability to ensure that benefits from Gen AI are widespread and harms caused by Gen Al are mitigated. In this talk, we examine the current state of responsible Al activity and the issues now emerging of data acquisition, computing power, and environmental impact that Responsible AI policies and regulations must begin to address.
