[LIS-Forum] When researchers pay to publish: Results from a survey on APCs in four countries

Friends, This paper may be of interest to many of you. It would be nice if some PhD student could carry out a similar survey on paying to publish among Indian researchers (in both STEM and HSS). This study surveyed authors in Argentina, Brazil, Mexico and South Africa. https://arxiv.org/abs/2410.12144 Unfortunately none of us knows for sure how much India is spending annually on APC paid to overseas publishers and how much of it is from the taxpayers, although some people attempted to GUESS it.
