We are all excited about the fact that NewGenLib is now freely available.  No doubt it is a great news.  From the response of the professionals on this forum one could get the idea that NewGenlib is acceptable to the librarians.  In the interest of the promoting library automation, I am giving my random thoughts below:
- Libraries have to immediately start using the software.  We have to stop searching for 'a good software'.  Whether it is NewGenlib or Koha or any other software of some standard, we have to start using the software.
- We should spread the message about the quality of the software among the fellow professionals (who are not still the part of this or any other forum) . It is unfortunate that government college libraries in Karnataka have been supplied with a software which does not follow any of the well known library automation standards.  So it is the need of the hour that professionals to adopt a standard software.
- Conduct a series of training programme for different levels and at different places.  A concious and systematic planning would enable the professionals to get trained in short period of time.
- Come out with a self-helping group of NewGenlib.
- Showcasing all the existing NewGenlib installations to build confidence among librarians.
- Coming out with simple-to-use manuals for different levels of libraries.
- Reporting of success/failure stories of the software
- Providing solutions for retrospective conversion
- Taking into confidence Keshavan institute in all these matters.
