Dear Friends/Respected Sir/Madam
 
  • I have some basic questions regarding a Librarian's Status in College/University:
 
  • Why librarian's job is non-vacational?
 
  • Don't we recognize the  research need /academic freedom of Librarians like teachers?
 
  • What are the actual status of librarian ?
 
  • Do we consider librarians as teachers or someone else?
 
  • Why librarians need to clear (UGC)NET/M.Phil/PhD?
 
  • If they are having the same entrance qualifications and same recruitment hurdles then why don't they enjoy the same acdemic freedom (like FIP, Phd increment,One day off, 16 hrs job /week, same retirement age, no major/minor research project etc)?
 
  • Why are UGC or State govts. hiding these matters behind the equal pay (8000-275-13500)status ?
  • Why our so-called renowned/influential professionals/tecahers /professional association feel shy to talk about the matter before the concerned authority?
 
  • Do we really feel ourselves subordinate to our teacher friends?
 
  • Why don't our associations are raising nationwide agitation for redesignate our service as per propsition of AIFUCTO?
 
I do not want to hurt any body.What I am said is from the core of my heart and these are very important matters to make this profession attractive to the new generations. I love this profession.I am Librarian by choice not by compulsion.I am proud of being a Librarian. Actually I feel, a profession or a subject develops when it gets absolute parity and respect.Without parity,recognition and respect Librarian will not shine any more. I will be very happy to discuss the matter with you all and share your valued comments on these questions.
