Dear Colleagues, This is with reference to comments made out by some of our colleagues on the selection of internal candidates.I do agree that selection process must be fair and transparent enough so that no body guess otherwise.We do believe that still there is honesty & transparency in the selection process at large, however, sometimes somehow some institute manipulate the process.I do agree with Dr Singh that institute should have framed its promotion policy/guidelines for their incumbent and be fair in making the selection process more transparent.This would eventually ensure equal & fair opportunity to all.However, it is also true that sometimes internal candidate seems to be equally competent and therefore deserves to be selected.So in my personal opinion it is the selection process which matters most and, therefore, each & every institute should adopt the fair means of selection process. I don't agree with the remarks made by Mr Mishra that there is lack of devoed and technologically sound manpower.It is quite unfornute to hear this from a person holding responsible position.I have been knowing personally a large number of library professionals who are more committed and devoted to this profession ,but unfortunately couldn't find a proper place where they would get proper exposure to new and emergent technologies.Moreover, it is the duty and responsiblity of the UGC/MHRD to ensure quality education in the field of LIS.Those Institutions which are pioneers in the field must extend their resources to others.Problem is with the availability of skilled and professional manpower in the various Deptt of LIS, poor infrastructures, lack of coordination amongst DLIS,etc. regards Rajesh Kr Pandey AL(SLBSRSV) -- This message has been scanned for viruses and dangerous content by MailScanner, and is believed to be clean.
