Dear Dr. D.P.Prathap,
There are many free alternatives available for the management of
bibliographic references which can save precious time of researches.
A very good initiative has been taken by George Mason University and the
output is really great it is known as ZOTERO http://www.zotero.org. It is a
firefox addon and the website also offers some pluigns for integration of
word processing tools like OpenOffice and Microsoft word. So that a user can
directly cite the items while writing the manuscripts.
There are some standalone one also e.g. JabReb, Bibtek.
If your library is subscribing to the WOS then you can also create free
EndNote web account.
In India still there is not much awareness among researchers regarding the
usage of these tools, still they are happy with manual fixing of references.
Rest, some more you can find here
