Dear friends,
Every year millions of students take the National Eligibility Test
(NET), which is mandatory for lectureship and award of junior research
fellowship. Since the examinees are not allowed to keep the question
paper, future aspirants often had a hard time preparing for the exam.
But
not anymore. They can now file an RTI application and get hold of the
old test papers. The good news does not end here. They can also take
the bi-annual test online.
In a landmark order, the Central
Information Commission (CIC) said that since exams are supposed to test
the fundamentals of the students and not their rote learning, making a
question bank available would not make any difference to the examining
bodies.
