He revolutionized the field of Library Science particularly “Indexing & Information retrieval”. He advocated the concept of “Controlled vocabulary” in information. His books “Online Information retrieval”, “Information retrieval systems” were sought after by MLIS students during 1980’s and 1990s. The second book has also bagged the best book of the year in USA. I attended three day evening lectures delivered by Prof.F.W.Lancaster at Institute of Information Studies, Bangalore (Sponsored by Sarada Endowment for Library Science). May his soul rest in peace.
