Now that I have company if I get into the line of fire, I thought I'll add my view. Every profession has a public image. Think doctor, nurse, lawyer, businessman (banker, salesman, shopkeeper), secretary and the strongest one - politician. Think of each of these and we can conjure up typical images in our minds. There are also qualities we associate with each one, some positive other negative: Doctors and nurses are noble lawyers are liars salesmen are slick and secretaries are always female. In fact, if you search for "librarian" in google or Yahoo image search, you will find a lady with a tight and prominent bun behind a pair of thick glasses. That's the public image of a librarian. We could bring down the ad, but will that change our image?
