INDIAN STATISTICAL INSTITUTE Documentation Research & Training Centre 8th Mile, Mysore Road, RVCE Post Bangalore-560 059 Seminar- 7 2014 Information Architecture and Libraries ABSTRACT In this digital era Information Architecture is becoming an emerging topic in the LIS field which enables libraries to be more attractive. It is concerned with the organisation, structuring and labelling of information with respect to users' perspective and not from technical perspective. A number of library websites, specially academic libraries have been designed with this concept although website designing is coming under this concept whether we strictly follow the procedures or not. This paper reflects the basic concepts and process of Information Architecture, jobs of information architects and its implication in libraries. An ongoing project done by Duke University Libraries is included that will give a clear idea about the implementation of IA in libraries.
