I would like to be little cautious over hear. There is no doubt that LIS Curriculum needs a change. But when wetalk of "suited to market" needs -- it is hear we need to be cautious. Do we know what market needs are? This is a big question. Sometimes we may start offering solutions - which we think could bethe only obvious things to do. But the ground reality and marketneeds could be different. First things first - let us first conduct a market research. What isneeded? Why a librarian is recruited in first place? Do the marketneeds a job to be done by a librarian? Or we want to do a job whichthe market does not expect a librarian to do. The moral of the story is -LET US FIND OUT WHAT THEY WANT.WE KNOW THEY WANT US.THEY DON'T. --Sukhdev Singh, NIC.http://indmed.nic.inhttp://openmed.nic.in On 2/21/06, Nerida Hart <neridahart@optusnet.com.au> wrote:> Sorry meant to send to the list not just the author!>> > Nerida Hart <neridahart@optusnet.com.au> wrote:> >> >> > Hi all> >> > In Australia, our library schools tend to put you through about a 2 week> > placement to get hands on experience.
