The event is organised by Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics (GIPE), Pune at at GIPE Campus. About the Seminar (9 August 2011) LIS Research in India has been actively pursued for last several decades and a large number of research results are reported in national and international publications. During the recent past, Indian LIS Profession has a good impact on the LIS research. But at the same time, it is observed that LIS research from India is mostly limiting itself to data driven by use and user studies while there is also some amount of original research in other areas. It is therefore felt that there is a need to get right directions on future research activities for the Indian LIS professionals. On the occasion of the Birth anniversary of Prof. S R Ranganathan, GIPE's one day seminar is planned to address these issues. Eminent personalities will guide the seminar participants to identify and pursue new emerging research theories and techniques.
