Dear All, Change has been the rule of universe since inception.....and it is proved also by many great philosophers. Whatever we received from almighty has felt a change after a certain period of time....so there is compulsorily change required in every walk of our life. By creating this background, I want to draw the attention of all library professionals towards the current situation of our library profession at National & International Level. As per my observation based on comparative study with the scenario of libraries in developed countries, I found and observed that we also are equal to them in proper use of technology but not very sound in management of infrastructure already available with us. The libraries of these developed countries have been concentrating more about attracting the patrons to their libraries by implementing lucrative ideas. A few example which I witnessed during my visit to Singapore....like having separate cabin with all technical facility for 4 patrons, self photocopier with smart-card, media viewing room with large screen LCD TV, a floor only for reading purpose with all technical & common facilities etc. and these facilities are really more than enough to attract the patrons to the library to spend some time.....definitely if you are in the library, you will gain something. Don't you all think that they are more focused on sensing the feelings of the patrons and marketing of library services with lucrative ideas.....and no doubt, they are very successful in their planning. Don't we all think that we can also develop such environment which will bring lot of development for library and profession at National as well as International Level? But we can not change alone, there is need of involvement of our senior library professionals who have capacity to change the environment as well as reach the implementor for such type of change. I humbly request to all senior professionals to think on the development of our library as well as profession and involve all youngsters like us by assigning them task in different capacity to bring the level of our profession up and high.
