Dear Sir At the outset, allow me to congratulate all professional library colleagues at the Mysore University for successfully hosting their library catalog via z39.50 protocol. It requires an unhindered vision and lots of courage to make once facility internationally visible and open to receive accolade as well brickbats. I took the opportunity to look-up some catalogue entries under the languages Hindi, Urdu and English. My remarks are as follow: 1. Has the library a policy to accommodate all bib documents under only two broad Collection code (i) Fiction and (ii) Non-fiction; 2. It is to be noted that that books under Class 'Literary History' or 'Epic' have been kept under Collection code 'Fiction' whereas books dealing with political and social problems have been placed under 'Non-Fiction'. 3. In case the class notions have been derived from the recent Dewey editions, many of them appears illogical. The Hindi book 'Daymanti' and the Urdu book 'Kulliyat-e-Fani' both are classed under 821.6 which stands for English letters. These things may be explained, if possible.
