Dr B. M. Meera, apart from giving an effective leadership for RRI Library has been very active in LIS related professional activities. A number of times she has hosted important lecture programs in RRI premises on behalf of KALA too. RRI Library all along had good leadership of persons like Dr Ratnakar and Dr Patil. A number initiatives started earlier got a maturity level and got good publicity too in the period of Dr. Meera. Trained under Late Prof M A Gopinath she did lot of studies even after noining RRI and produced many repsearch papers. RRI digital library has showcased Sir Raman's life and works. Dear professional friends,
I will be superannuating from my services at Raman Research Institute on 31 st May 2020. My journey in the LIS profession started in 1980 when I joined Library school for BlLibSc program and eventually completed MLib in 1982. My career started in 1983, when I joined ISRO and worked there for a short while. Later I joined CMTI in 1984 and from their moved on to join Indian statistical Institute in 1987. Worked at ISI for 24 years and during this time I was fortunate to acquire PhD degree from Bangalore University under the guidance of Prof. MA Gopinath. I joined RRI as Librarian in April 2011. My professional life has been satisfying and fulfilling. I had occasions to meet many eminent personalities from both the LIS profession and scientific community. I also had opportunity to organize many events, which were really learning experiences.
My retirement is only from my 9 to 5 official position and not from professional/academic life. So, Hope to meet you all in the days to come.
