Please do not jump to high-tech Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) System without evaluating your actual needs, alternatives and cost-benefits. If you just need an anti-theft system for books, go for RF system. With Rs 2.00 lakh, you can have hardware and tags for 50000 books. It has no relation with your integrated library software (ILS). Estimated cost of 50000 RFID tags is Rs 11.00 lakh! You have to procure hardware and you may have to pay to upgrade your ILS for RFID system. Self Check-in/ Checkout and automatic sorting of documents etc. could be implemented in RFID based ILS system. However, your may have a self check-in/ checkout module already in your ILS. Chipless RFID smart labels, with up to 10 meters detection range and 256 bits of data, can cost one tenth of their silicon chip equivalents and have a greater physical performance.
