Dear Moderator, That's great initiative. As few members have the tendency of just sending the mails without any further details, such as what they work as, where are they working/writing from and so on. Precisely, members sending mails without their signatures, if some body need to talk to them on any other relevant matters, it's just impossible. We also have this bad habit of negativity towards what we do, and have developed this stubborn behavior to some extent. It has happened with me as well, some member wrote to Forum about something, I have asked him to include his signature. You may guess what a great reply I have got? (from a fellow professional?) like, is my e-mail not enough, I don't believe in showing what I am and so on so forth.... Let's make a difference in what we do. Your valuable postings and replies to the queries posted by fellow members are very beneficial to the rest of the members on the list. We would also appreciate if you could follow certain minimal guidelines mentioned below while posting a message and/or while replying to a query posted by a fellow member: - Quite a few unsigned and/or unidentified messages are received on a regular basis. Many a times we return such mails to the originator with a request to include the affiliation details sufficient enough for the fellow members to identify the sender. Please adhere to this guideline strictly, failing which we may have to discard unsigned or unidentified postings - The preferred format for postings is plain text. If your mail clients default to other formats such as HTML, please configure your mail clients to send plain text while posting messages to the LIS-Forum list - Sending file attachments of any kind should be strictly avoided. Members circulating questionnaire should either convert their questionnaire to plain text and include it in the body of the message or should facilitate online submission of questionnaire - Ensure that your posting has a valid subject - Whenever there is a request for a fulltext article (such requests should be posted on this forum only as a last resort), the fellow members who intend to honour such requests, should interact with the requester directly. - While replying to a query, just include the relevant portion of the original message rather than including the the entire message. - Personal attacks of any kind will be just discarded - While drawing the attention of the fellow members to a particular news item/information, to the extent possible provide the URLs rather than just forwarding such news item/information. We solicit your cooperation in the smooth running of this list.
