Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan Delhi invites applications for the position of Reference Librarian.

Max Mueller Bhavan is part of the worldwide network of the Goethe-Institut Munich and promotes German language and culture abroad. The library provides comprehensive and up-to-date information about Germany.

Responsibilities:

 

Ø  Provide reference services about Germany

Ø  Cataloguing and classification of library collection

Ø  Participate in collection development

Ø  Promote library resources and services

Ø  Prepare library newsletter and other promotional material

Ø  Maintain the library website

Ø  Maintain address databases

Ø  Provide assistance in organization of international conferences and seminars as well as staff  training programmes

Ø  Carry out day to day office administration

 

Requirements:

 

Ø  Master’s degree from an accredited library school

Ø  Minimum of two years professional experience 

Ø  Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English 

Ø  Good knowledge of spoken and written German language and culture an advantage

Ø  Competence in using new technology as a research tool

Ø  Profound knowledge of computer applications 

Ø  Initiative, flexibility and ability to work in a team environment

Ø  Strong commitment to public service
