Friends, Library professionals have to face some common questions from the senior management. What is the usefulness of library? Does it still relevant in the age of google? People always doubt about its economic contribution made to the society and the organisation. They do not understand the hidden intellectual and economic contribution made by the library to its parent organisation and the society . They never give priority to library. And hence there is no economic freedom given to it. QUALITY IS LOST HERE. While some smart professionals keep the record ready to face such silly questions. Many professionals lack the skills (proper) to assess the usefulness of library from the economic point of view. I have come across a recently released report by the Seattle Public Library, 'The Seattle Public Library Central Library: Economic Benefit Assessment". This report assesses the impact of the New Central Library on Seattle's economy based on quantitative and qualitative analysis.
