I am pleased to announce that a National level workshop on 'Drupal 7: An Open Source Content Management System' is organised from 26-28 Oct 2012 at 'Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics (GIPE), Pune. As you know, the libraries have been trying to adopt new technologies for providing new services to their users and to reach the wider audience, librarians are sharing information through library websites. To create and maintain library web site, they are either using Blog based services or HTML to build complex library websites. To overcome the problems of creating library websites using HTML, there are range of open source content management software (CMS) available for building complex websites. Drupal is one of the popular, heavily used CMS tools which allow creating websites from simple pages to complex pages without having much technical expertise. Drupal is used across the world having large installation base as well as large user community across globe. By using Drupal, libraries can easily publish, manage and organize wide variety of contents. Drupal based library websites allow to provide contents dynamically as well as interactively by providing several web 2.0 based services. Considering the current trend, GIPE, Pune is organizing a three days workshop on Drupal. The main objective of the workshop is to provide participants hands-on on ‘Drupal Content Management Software’ from installation to creating a dynamic library websites. The workshop comprises of lectures, demonstration and hands on training using Drupal software in detail. Each participant will be provided with a dedicated machine. The workshop will include following areas during the three days:- Overview of Content Management Systems; Drupal Concepts, Technologies and Terminology; Basic Installation, Setup and Configuration; Drupal Architecture; Drupal Themes, Models, Blocks & Nodes; Drupal Core & Contributed Resource Persons Dr. SunitaBarve, NCL, Pune; Mr Pramod Joshi, GIPE, Pune and One of the experts from Pune IT Industry Target Participants: Library and information Science professionals with working knowledge of Information Technology. Number of participants is limited to 30 only. The participants will be selected on first come first served basis.
