Dear friends, I take this liberty to introduce one of the most dedicated library professional and a freedom fighter - Mr K K Bhatia to you. Mr. K K Bhatia who will be 83 years old on 24th August 2011 is a freedom fighter, social worker, librarian, and a man of very high dignity. He was working in Indian Army in its office. After a small meeting with Dr S R Ranganathan, he decided to join the library professional. He served Central Road Research Institute for more than two decades and even after the retirement he is still working for the cause of the library profession. He is one of the Founder Trustee of Ranganathan Research Trust and Ranganathan Research Circle. After retirement, he has widely travelled in remote areas in the states of J & K, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and have promoted the concept of rural libraries in these areas. During the tenure of Ms. Kiran Bedi as the head of Tihar Jail, he worked with inmates in Tihar Jain to promote reading habits and the concept of libraries. With his efforts a branch of the Delhi Public Library (DPL) was opened in the Tihar Jail. Even a seminar was organized in Tihar Jail. A man full of energy at the age of 82 is a real librarian, who is committed to work for the libraries forever. Recently when Shri Anna Hazare was in Tihar, he supported him and motivated his followers outside Tihar. His interviews have been telecasted on various National Channels.
