Dear Professional Friends,
I am happy to inform all of you that, as conducted last year it is
proposed to celebrate Librarian�s Day in a befitting way. Karnataka
Library Association (KALA) and Indian Academic Library Association (IALA)
Bangalore University and Department of Public Libraries are the main
organizers of this event.
A preliminary meeting of all Professional Associations and Senior
Professionals in Bangalore City was held on 1st August 2011. Programs and
activities as decided in the meeting are as under:
*The Programme:*
The procession of Librarians wearing T-Shirts and Caps will be flagged off
by his Excellency Governor of Karnataka on 12th August 2011 at 09:00AM and
the procession will end at Bangalore University, Central College Campus
�Senate Hall� at 10:00 AM. After brake fast the main function of Librarians�
Day will start at 10:30 AM and will be concluded at 01:00PM with the Lunch.
Guests and details about the Librarians' Day Function will be informed
later.
*Participating Associations and their contribution:*
The main organizers KALA & IALA will meet all expenditures and major events
will be sponsored by different philanthropists.
However, the participating Associations will have to contribute a token
contribution of Rs. 5,000/- which will cover one big banner printed after
the name of their Associations. As on 1st August following Associations will
be participating in the procession:
1. Karnataka Library Association (KALA)
2. Indian Academic Library Association (IALA)
3. Sharada Ranganathan Endowment for Library Science (SRELS)
4. Karnataka State College Librarians� Association (KSCLA)
5. Indian Public Library Association (IPLA)
6. Department of Public Libraries
Any other Associations who are interested to participate may please contact
us to make necessary arrangements
The meeting also decided to bring out two to three posters to be pasted on
all the Notice Boards of all Libraries at least in Bangalore City. However,
we are finding a sponsored to get us the posters printed. Once we get a
sponsored and print the posters, arrangements will be made to distribute it
to all the Libraries in the city.
*Call for participation*
Last year a very good support was extended by the Professionals from all the
types of Libraries. Specially, young Librarians� participation was
overwhelming. This time it is proposed to introduce the Registration of
participants to enable us to distribute T-Shirts in advanced. It is also
proposed to get OOD Permission from Department of Collegiate Education.
I request all the professional friends of Bangalore to kindly spare their
morning time on 12th August and join their hands will all the associations
to project our professional unity and promote the use of libraries among the
public at large.
*Many of the professionals may not be able to read this message. Hence, I
request you to forward this message to many of your friends and send me the
list of emails and their mobile numbers to enable me to communication them
also through mails and sms.*
We have made arrangement for atleast 400 participants who will be registered
on first come first serve basis and if the registrations exceeds 400 number,
the participants can participate without the T-Shirt and Caps.
