Dear professional friends,
I have been watching the postings that came under the heads "Negative publicity" as well as "Part time research". The discussions on part time research opportunity itself is creating a chance for negative publicity. People who are arguing in a professional forum for something should use polite language. I appreciate the intervention of a senior librarian Dr. Konnur, Bangalore University. Please make this forum a place for fruitful discussions only. Do you know how useful the postings regarding the job opportunities for youngsters?
In this juncture, I would like to add something too. The University of Kerala (or the Department of Library and Information Science, KU)has never shown a lenient approach to working librarians. With due respect to my alma-mater, I should say that they have not recognized the courses conducted by any of the universities through distance mode (including IGNOU). This may be the case with other universities too. But why the teachers in those departments go for paper valuations and related jobs? If they are worried about the quality of teaching through distance mode tell the policy makers to change things.
Many who responded have already talked with emotions. Let us stop this somewhere! "Librarian teachers" should feel the agony and worries of working librarians. This is my humble request.
