Dear Prof. Shalini,
As we know very well that every software
development needs monitory support and from the provided link it seems
that no where they are asking for paid membership they are just asking
for sponsors(optional for users) so that they can keep on the services
to the community and it is normal in every open source project one can
see the examples from Mozilla or Apache foundations . So their is
nothing too much to ponder and wonder about the future of Open source. :-)

The following two news items - regarding DOAJ charging membership fee and
Dspace sustainability model makes one wonder and ponder about the future of
Open Source and Open Access.
----
Hello !
DSPACE is experimenting with sustainability, paid members and the like ...
5000 USD per institution seems quite steep however ...see:

hi
if you have not seen this, DOAJ is now charging as its sustainability
model. i see lots of parallels between that and NDLTD, although their
value proposition seems possibly weaker and they are charging much more!
