Availability of modern ICT infrastructure forced the libraries to offer many of their services over network, especially over the Web. Emergence of e-only resources, requirement from users for e-resources, and availability of suitable communication mechanisms etc have also compelled to provide electronic information services. In order to provide such speedy services, libraries need to equip themselves with different tools, which enable web-based information dissemination. Provision of Web based information service is costly and some times becomes unaffordable to many Libraries. Alternatively they may depend on free/low cost solutions for web based information services. The workshop will orient and train the participants in establishing and managing such services. The practice sessions will be based on GenIsisWeb. GenISIS is a state-of-the-art package used to create Web interface for CDS/ISIS databases (or its different versions) for developing applications like Digital Libraries, Web based catalogues (WebOPAC), e-Journal Gateways etc. GenISIS is based on the Web CDS/ISIS interface WWWISIS by BIREME. This Workshop focuses on giving a practical orientation to GenISISWeb for creating web based Information Service. Participation is expected from Librarians, LIS Students, Academia and Industry.
