Service and e - Resources 7-8 June, 2013
ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP
The main function of libraries and information centres is to collect the
information from various sources, organized and process it, and distribute
it to target users.
Libraries have been doing this by means of various library services.
Keeping in view cost of information, processing time and other inputs,
libraries can maximize
their ROI if information services are being used by larger population of
users. This demands need of marketing for the users at right time in a
right way.
Libraries and information centers are facing a time of unprecedented change
and challenges. Recent technological developments are creating new form and
source of information,
bypassing traditional libraries. Library users are transcending into
customers
with rising expectations, diverse needs ,wants and choices. Libraries and
information centers should make it a point to apply new leading concepts
like social networking
in the marketing of their services and information to the users.
In a target workshop, we plan to discuss various methods of identifying the
services needs , skills required for effective marketing and how we can
avail ourselves of
technology for marketing. The key aspects for this workshop will be group
discussions brain storming role plays and case studies.
*ABOUT NMIMS *
The Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) ( Deemed to be
University) established in 1981 has over 13,000 students and 350 faculty
members representing an eclectic mix of industry and academic experience in
severed diverse domains of knowledge. Apart from its main campus at Mumbai,
NMIMS has off-campus centers at Shirpur (Maharashtra), Bangalore and
Hyderabad. In 2003, NMIMS established eight schools, offering programs

Mukesh Patel Central Library at Shirpur campus is a valuable resource for
all students and faculty members. It has a rich collection of 23500
books,17 various full text databases and 74,000 e-books from renowned
publishers, NPTEL videos etc. Covering 45000 Sq ft area, it provides access
to valuable resources in Engineering, Management, Pharmacy, Computer
Science, and Business Management

Shirpur is a tribal area of North Maharashtra adjoining Madhya Pradesh and
Gujarat. It is located near the Satpuda ranges on the NH-3
(Mumbai-Dhule-Indore-Agra). It is a perfect example of a model township
developed by the leadership of *Hon’ble Shri. Amrishbhai Patel, MLA*,
Maharashtra who is also the President, SVKM and Chancellor, SVKM’s NMIMS.

Shirpur is 50 km away from Dhule and 200 km from Indore (MP), Surat
(Gujarat), Nasik and Aurangabad. Buses frequently ply between Dhule and
Shirpur. The nearest railway stations are Jalgaon (MS), Bhusawal (MS), 120
km (Central Railway) and Nandurbar (MS), 85 KM (Western Railway via Surat).
