1) Why should the IITs produce Nobel Laureates? They produce engineers, and there are no Nobel prizes in an engineering field! Next, people will ask why the IITs aren't producing good cricketers or football players!
2) These are times when the likes of Malala Yousufzai, Kailash Satyarthi, and Obama are winning Nobel prizes... It's better that IITs (and other universities) are producing graduates who are actually contributing to society and technology, rather than glorified "Nobel Laureates".
3) The article and the way it has presented the arguments speak more of the quality of journalism (or lack of it) at NDTV, rather than the IITs.
