It is good to have a separate CD register for either you buy separate CD or it comes with a book. When you maintain separate CD register, provide separate accession number to CDs. In case the CD comes with the Books, you mention the accession number of the CD in the book identifying that the book has one / two/ three/four.. CD(s). The reason is some times your user may not have an interest of borrowing the CD or may be the book. Some times they may like to borrow both. I would suggest, therefore, maintaining the separate register makes your circulation process easy. But, sometimes, it also depends on library's own policy and rules and regulations.

Dear all,

  Since our college is under going the NAAC accreditation process shortly, our authoriries have now shown interest in the purchasing of CD's, DVD s related to various subjects for the library. Can anybody please inform me about the exact accessioning of the CDs?.
   Some libraries maintain separate register for CDs & some others accession it along with the books. Some say we can have our own method. Can anybody clarify me about this.
