I am in full agreement about making science (and knowledge in every field)
accessible to all.
But I am not sure if "allowing Sci-Hub" (and LibGen - which I know nothing
about) - is the correct answer. When they seem to be making the
accessibility in methods which are not legal, would that be the right
thing?
The accessibility should be by getting the right costs in place. And maybe
like the music industry - there should be a new model where authors are
paid a proportion of the revenue they get for every article.
My husband worked in the IT industry for long (he is a Finance professional
who also knew a lot about legal and admin matters) - told me that NASSCOM
had discussions with the government and worked with them to bring down the
pricing for India for several important products.
I feel that the way forward is the right pricing within legal frameworks.
Maybe changing copyright laws too. BUT it should favour all stakeholders.

More than 2000 scientists, professors, researchers, teachers and students have signed a statement supporting free access to knowledge and urging the court and the government to allow the Indian academic community to continue to have access to Sci-Hub and Libgen,” said Soumitro Banerjee, general secretary of BSS and professor in the physical sciences department of the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research at Kolkata.
