Over the last three decades Kalyanasundaram, has donated his life's savings of Rs 35 lakh to charity including all his retirement benefits. He now heads a facilitating organization called PALAM - that forms a bridge between donors and beneficiaries. He has donated money for medical aid, counselling centres, books, clothes, free food, funding for poor children, hostel for unwanted little girls, earthquake, flood and cyclone victims . His services to the poor is unending. Beneficiaries from his trust include organisations such as the Awai Ashram in Madurai, Amar Seva Sangham in Ayikudi and the Caussanel Foundation for Children and the Aged in Tirunelveli. Mr. Kalayanasundaram does not have a penny to his name. But he has a 225-year-old coin, presented to him by an industrialist Jamal Mohamed Yeesa, his family heirloom, for his philanthropy .
