AMLANC-2013: Managing Indian Media Libraries and Archives, New Delhi, 4-5 February 2013 Jointly hosted by Association of Media Libraries and Archives and JNU Jawaharlal Nehru University, the 1st AMLA National conference will take place in New Dehli. The conference’s theme is Managing Indian Media Libraries and Archives: Challenges, Opportunities and Best Practices The Association of Media Libraries and Archives (AMLA), a professional forum, was originally conceptualized by the Indian media library and information professionals, during the IFLA International Newspaper Conference which was held from February 25-28,2010 at IGNCA, New Delhi. As the AMLA is now fully functional, it seriously aims for regular exchange of professional ideas and knowledge sharing through conferences, seminars, workshops, training programmes and publications etc., by catering to the development needs of professionals working in various Media Libraries and Archives in India, which is the first such initiative, in the mass media industry in the Country. As the first step towards achieving one of its main goals, ‘regular exchange of professional ideas and knowledge sharing’, AMLA has now decided to host an all India annual conference to discuss the current issues and various emerging trends in managing media libraries and archives in India. AMLANC-2013 is the first national level conference to be held in India under AMLA from February 4-5, 2013 and it will bring together the LIS and Archival Management Professionals working in the media libraries as well as some of the select group of prominent users of media libraries under one roof. The Conference primarily aims to provide a professional platform to deliberate, discuss, examine and debate the various practical issues in managing all aspects of media libraries, across the various mass media segments such as, Print, TV, Radio and Online. The Conference Organising Committee invites professional contributions from all likeminded professionals in the form of paper presentations matching with the theme and sub-themes of the Conference.
