Many Indian brands that some of us have grown up with do not appear on television commercials, print media or the internet. We no longer get to see or hear of them. What happened to those brands? Did they die a natural death? Or did they fall prey to the liberalization gates opened by India in 1991? It would be of great interest for the firms and the academia to know and dissect your perspectives on what happened to those brands along the way. Some of the brands that we may well be aware of are Dynora(TV), Carona(footwear brand, Did liberty, Bata, Nikes and Reeboks eat it up?), Canada Dry ( Beverage, Despite being similar to Sprite and 7 up we don’t see the brand in supermarkets anymore while the sprite and 7 Up continues to live.), Kelvinator, Moti soap etc. The multitude of perspectives that we may get would help us build our repertoire of knowledge on mistakes committed by those brands that were well established for the times and learn from them.
Bangalore Management Academy (BMA) a leading Business Management Institution having collaborations with Bharathidasan Institute of Management (BIM), Bharathidasan University (BU), Edith Cowan University (ECU), University of Aberdeen, Retailers Association of India (RAI), Asia Pacific University College of Technology and Innovation (UCTI) Malaysia, Singapore Human Resources Institute (SHRI), Nanyang Institute of Management (NIM) and Pondicherry University announces the call for papers on “Memorabilia of failed and forgotten brands in India”.
